Cheshire Neighbours Credit Union was a financial co-operative owned by its members. It was regulated by both the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as a deposit-taker, under Firm Reference Number (FRN) 215692.

Before being declared in default, the credit union had already begun winding down its operations and had attempted to contact all members. Many members have already received the return of their funds.

The FSCS is now stepping in to protect any members who have not yet received their money. The Scheme will contact affected members directly and arrange for their funds to be returned.

Members should stay alert to potential fraud.
If you receive a cold call or message from someone claiming to represent the credit union or the FSCS, do not share any personal information.
